Tuffi Memorial

This stone commemorates Tuffi , the elephant taken on the Wuppertal suspended monorail as a circus publicity stunt. The elephant panicked, broke through a window, and fell around 12 metres into the river below. Tuffi survived with only minor injuries and became a local legend and symbol of the city’s monorail story.
