The Saitama Railway Museum

The Saitama Railway Museum is one of the best of Japan's many excellent railway museums. It was opened in 2007 by the East Japan Railway Culture Foundation, a non-profit subsidiary of the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). There's 30 railway cars, including next-generation Shinkansen models you can enter, simulators and a mini-shinkansen you can ride. The rooftop also offers a great vantage point to watch Shinkansen trains speed by via an elevated viaduct.
