Starý most literally means “Old Bridge”, even though the current bridge was only completed in 2015 and was actually Bratislava’s newest bridge at the time. The crossing itself dates back to 1890. After the bridge was destroyed in 1945, it was rebuilt as a supposedly temporary steel structure that ended up lasting for more than 60 years. Today it is car-free and serves pedestrians, cyclists and two tram tracks connecting central Bratislava with Petržalka. Parts of the historic stone bridge structure were retained. Nice views of the Danube!
